Extracts from primary sources such as The Satanic Letters Of Stephen Brown are provided which place O9A Insight Rôles into historical and esoteric context. Which context is of such Rôles being useful and practical learning experiences for someone, Initiate or External Adept, following the O9A Seven Fold Way, and forming only a temporary part of that Seven Fold Way which itself forms part of the sinister dialectic, the Aeonic strategy, of the Order of Nine Angles. Such primary sources are important resources in respect of researching and understanding the O9A.

The O9A Deofel Quartet

°°°°°°°°°

The Deofel Quartet present much of the diverse aural traditions of the Order of Nine Angles as Anton Long received them: as stories about people, their interactions; their ‘satanic’ or esoteric views and beliefs; and about certain events that involved those people. In The Deofel Quartet he simply reworked the factual material – as writers of fiction are wont to do – in order to make an interesting story, in the process obscuring the identities of those involved and sometimes their place of residence or work; added some entertaining details (as in the ‘astral battles’ of a kind now familiar – decades later – from the Harry Potter stories) and concatenated certain events in order to provide ‘action’ in a limited time-frame.

Thus, the fictional stories not only compliment other O9A material but provide a ‘different way into’ the complex O9A mythos; a way that many will find more interesting (and certainly more entertaining) than thousands of pages of sometimes polemical and sometimes ponderous O9A factual texts, and a way that especially places the O9A’s satanism into perspective, Aeonically and otherwise.

The Quartet was written by Anton Long with the stories originally read out from handwritten manuscripts at Temple/nexion meetings of the Order of Nine Angles (O9A) in the decades of the 1970s and 1980s. These meetings were never large – sometimes only a few people, occasionally a dozen or less – and were always held in intimate and candle-lit surroundings.

Following the expansion of the O9A in the late 1980s resulting from O9A articles being published in occult zines such as Nox, the original handwritten manuscripts (most with handwritten corrections or alterations) were, in the early 1990s typed out on manual typewriters by various people.

Alchemical And Hermetic Antecedents Of The Seven Fold Way Of The O9A
(pdf, 27 Mb)

The texts included in this pdf compilation provide an overview of the alchemical tradition of the O9A and how that tradition relates to the Seven Fold Way. It should thus enable both those beginning their own Occult quest according to an O9A praxis, and those interested in O9A esoteric philosophy, to better appreciate not only how the O9A differs from other modern Occult groups but also how the O9A has maintained links to, and manifests some of the esoteric knowledge of, more ancient Occult traditions. Ancient Occult traditions, and esoteric knowledge, entirely absent from the literature about and produced by all other modern Occult groups, all of which groups (and the persons associated with them) have bought into, and reproduced, the distorted ‘qabalistic’ tradition of the likes of Alphonse Louis Constant, MacGregor Mathers and Crowley, and/or who (like Howard Stanton Levey and Aquino and Crowley) simply continued and aided the de-evolutionary masculous, patriarchal, ethos. In contrast to that patriarchal ethos – which has dominated the world, East and West, for millennia – the O9A tradition is of ἀρρενόθηλυς: of balancing the masculous with the muliebral through pathei-mathos both Occult and exoteric.

Preface:

Due to the increase in recent years in the number of individuals publicly opining about the Order of Nine Angles (O9A/ONA), both via the medium of the internet and via the medium of printed books, it seems only fitting to present an informed, initiated, insight into the O9A, especially as the opinionastry displayed by the majority of those who do opine and have so opined about the O9A reveals that their knowledge and understanding of the O9A is or was either rudimentary or non-existent.

Hence this kything: this ‘making known in words’ in the form of seven recent texts by various O9A folk, and which texts place the O9A into the correct historical, and occult, context. The context of esoteric philosophy, of an ancient paganism, of a esoteric tradition much older than the qabalistic one favoured by most Western occultists, and which tradition is rooted in ancient Greek mysticism and Hellenic hermeticism and influenced by Arabic and Persian sources.

The O9A is thus revealed as not only a unique modern esoteric philosophy, presenced by various antinomian praxises and by a modern elitist mystic anados (ἄνοδος), but also as sinisterly-numinous, and pagan, in ethos. Hence, (i) why it is apposite to describe, and classify, the O9A as a ‘sinisterly-numinous’ mystic tradition – and not a ‘satanist’ nor even a Left Hand Path tradition; and (ii) why its extreme type of ‘satanism’ is only a particular causal form – a causal presencing – of its particular esotericism. For that ‘satanist’ presencing is but one part of the ‘sinister’ aspect of the sinisterly-numinous tradition: that is, a necessary and novitiate pathei-mathos, and thus one gateway (one nexion) into the strange acausal, mystic, occult world presenced by the O9A and by its paradoxical, oft-times intentionally confusing, mythos.
